‘Country Neither Witnessed Political Stability nor Economic Revival’: Fazlur Rehman

KARACHI: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman stated that the Pakistan neither witnessing political stability nor economic revival.

Addressing an event in Karachi, Rehman said, “Friendly countries are expressing their concerns about the state of our economy. They are considering how to save Pakistan.”

“Our constitution, parliament, and institutions are under threat. Each institution is seeking to intervene in the affairs of the others,” Rehman claimed.

“Our military, judiciary, and parliament must operate within their respective boundaries. Every institution is heading toward weakness,” the JUI-F chief maintained.

He added, “We will face uncertainty if the constitution is not implemented.”

“There is a need to adapt to change over time. Political interests should not influence any reforms. You cannot deceive anyone with beautiful words,” Rehman emphasized.

Recalling the general elections that took place on February 8, Rehman asserted, “The elections were marred by rigging, not genuine voting.”

He said, “I am aware of certain aspects of the draft constitutional amendment, and I do not find it fair.”

“The public has not read the draft of the constitutional amendment, and they also feel it is not fair enough,” Rehman concluded.
