COVID-19 4th Wave: 102 die in one-day first time in 3-months; 4,939 new cases reported

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan during ongoing COVID-19 fourth wave reported more deaths of 102 people on Thursday morning which is first time in three-months while 4,939 people were tested positive during last 24 hours.

The country last reported more than a 100 deaths on May 20, 2021. Pakistan has so far conducted 17 million coronavirus tests.

According to latest data appeared on National Coronavirus Dashboard of the National Command and Operation Centre’s (NCOC)  across Pakistan 59,397 coronavirus tests were conducted in the last 24 hours out of them 4,934 people were tested positive.

Meanwhile, the country reported a positivity rate of 8.30%.

NCOC stated that about 102 people lost their lives to the coronavirus epidemic in the last 24 hours, taking the countrywide death toll to 24,187.

NCOC also stated that 4,939 people have been tested positive to coronavirus taking the countrywide tally of positive cases to 1,085,294.

Health experts have raised concerns over the mushrooming cases as Pakistan has reported 1,085,294 COVID-19 cases so far.

The number of active cases stands at 85,633, with the nationwide recoveries rising to 975,474.

Overall, coronavirus cases across Pakistan haven’t declined or risen significantly, however, Sindh lifted its lockdown Monday. Revised COVID-19 restrictions, which will last till August 31, have been announced by the Sindh government.

Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The overall death tally across Pakistan remained 24,187 out of which 11,292 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 6,316 in Sindh, 4,604 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 824 in Islamabad, 658 in Azad Kashmir, 332 in Balochistan, and 161 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Overall tally of the positive cases across the Pakistan was reported 1,085,294 out of which 406,109 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 368,195 in Punjab, 150,026 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 92,233 in Islamabad, 31,341 in Balochistan, 28,347 in Azad Kashmir and 9,043 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Pakistan has so far conducted 16,675,527 coronavirus tests and 59,397 in the last 24 hours 975,474 patients have recovered in the country whereas 4,584 patients are in critical condition.
