ISLAMABAD: Coronavirus epidemic fourth wave is still continue across Pakistan and virus is taking toll as during last 24 hours 66 people have died and 3,800 more people were contracted of the virus.
The latest figures appeared in the National Coronavirus Dashboard of the National Command and Operation Centre’s (NCOC) on Monday reported that 3,800 more people were tested positive to coronavirus and 66 new deaths were also confirmed.
The NCOC reported that duirng last 24 hours 56,279 people were tested for coronavirus test out of them 3,800 people were tested positive and the positivity ratio across country stands 6.75 per cent.
With 66 more deaths reported last day the overall tally of fatalities stands 25,670 and with 3,800 more infections reported the total number of positive cases has reached 1,156,281.
In addition to this, 3,548 patients have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours across the country, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,036,921, while the number of active cases is 93,690.
Pakistan is reporting 4,095 new infections on average each day, 70 per cent of the peak — the highest daily average reported on June 17.
Pakistan has administered at least 50,985,184 doses of COVID vaccines so far. Assuming every person needs 2 doses, that’s enough to have vaccinated about 11.8 per cent of the country’s population.
During the last week reported, Pakistan averaged about 600,802 doses administered each day. At that rate, it will take a further 73 days to administer enough doses for another 10 per cent of the population.
As per the provincial breakdown given by the NCOC, Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The overall death toll surged to 25,670 out of them 11,823 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 6,834 in Sindh, 4,944 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 863 in Islamabad, 695 in Azad Kashmir, 338 in Balochistan, and 173 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Over all toll of positive cases across the country has surged to 1,156,281, out of which 430,594 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 391,297 in Punjab, 161,381 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 98,951 in Islamabad, 32,200 in Balochistan, 31,988 in Azad Kashmir and 9,870 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Pakistan has so far conducted 17,704,220 coronavirus tests and 56,279 in the last 24 hours. 1,036,921 patients have recovered in the country whereas 5,612 patients are in critical condition.
