COVID-19 4th Wave: Death toll crosses 24,000; 3,884 new cases, 86 deaths reported

ISLAMABAD: Coronavirus fourth wave is continue to take toll as the overall death toll in Pakistan crosses the 24,000 mark on Tuesday morning.

During last 24 hours, 86 more people have died due to deadly coronavirus pandemic, after which the death toll has crossed 24,004. During last 24 hours 3,884 people were tested positive for COVID-19, which took the tally of positive cases to 1,075,504.

According to latest figures appeared on National Coronavirus Dashboard of the National Command and Operation Centre’s (NCOC) that more than 49,506 people across Pakistan were tested for COVID-19 out of them, 3,884 came back positive. According to the NCOC, the positivity rate now stands at 7.84 per cent.

The number of deaths from coronavirus in the country has crossed 24,000 and reached 24,004 and the total number of cases has reached 1,075,504.

In addition to this, 2,669 patients have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 967,073, while the number of active cases is 84,427.

A day earlier, it was reported that Pakistan has been recording a slow decline in its daily COVID-19 numbers over the last few days.

According to NCOC’s statistics, the positivity rate, daily cases and deaths fell Monday. There is a small downward trend in daily numbers, however, active cases continue to increase with the latest figure recorded at 84,427 cases.

Overall, coronavirus cases across Pakistan haven’t declined significantly, however, Sindh lifted its lockdown Monday. Revised COVID-19 restrictions, which will last till August 31, have been announced by Sindh Government.

According to NCOC province-wise figure Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The toll of fatalities reached to 24,004 out of them 11,239 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 6,235 in Sindh, 4,570 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 821 in Islamabad, 650 in Azad Kashmir, 332 in Balochistan, and 157 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

1,075,594 cases of Coronavirus were reported in Pakistan out of 401,790 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 365,824 in Punjab, 149,056 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 91,217 in Islamabad, 31,234 in Balochistan, 27,507 in Azad Kashmir and 8,876 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Pakistan has so far conducted 16,551,440 coronavirus tests and 49,506 in the last 24 hours 967,073 patients have recovered in the country whereas 4,530 patients are in critical condition.
