ISLAMABAD: Coronavirus epidemic fourth wave claims 118 more lives during last 24 hours besides 3,838 people were tested positive for the virus across Pakistan.
According to latest figures displayed on National Coronavirus Dashboard of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Tuesday over 118 people have lost their lives to coronavirus and 3,838 new infections were reported across country.
As many as 52,112 coronavirus tests were conducted in Pakistan during last 24 hours and out of which 3,838 people tested positive. This brings the positivity rate to 7.36 per cent. The positivity rate has been over 6 per cent for the last nine days.
The total number of active cases in the country rose to 94,573 on August 31. A total of 1,039,758 people have so far recovered from the deadly disease.
With 118 new deaths reported across the country in last 24 hours the overall tally of fatalities risen to 25,788. With 3,838 new cases were reported n the country the total confirmed case count now stands at 1,160,119.
Pakistan is reporting 4,099 new infections on average each day, 70 per cent of the peak — the highest daily average reported on June 17.
Pakistan has administered at least 53,314,628 doses of COVID vaccines so far. Assuming every person needs 2 doses, that’s enough to have vaccinated about 12.3 per cent of the country’s population.
During the last week reported, Pakistan averaged about 745,808 doses administered each day. At that rate, it will take a further 59 days to administer enough doses for another 10 per cent of the population.
According to province-wise break-down Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The overall toll of deaths surged to 25,788 across Pakistan out of which 11,823 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 6,834 in Sindh, 4,944 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 863 in Islamabad, 695 in Azad Kashmir, 338 in Balochistan, and 173 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The toll of overall positive cases surged to 1,160,119 across Pakistan out of which 431,636 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 393,136 in Punjab, 161,853 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 99,263 in Islamabad, 32,230 in Balochistan, 32,095 in Azad Kashmir and 9,906 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Pakistan has so far conducted 17,756,332 coronavirus tests and 52,112 in the last 24 hours. 1,039,758 patients have recovered in the country whereas 5,542 patients are in critical condition.
