COVID-19 4th Wave: Pakistan reports over 120 deaths second time in August; 4,191 new cases

ISLAMABAD: Coronavirus epidemic fourth wave has continued to play havoc across the country as Pakistan reported 120 new COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, reporting over 100 deaths in a day after a gap of almost 15 days. The country last reported more than 100 deaths on August 12, 2021.

Besides 120 new deaths country has tested 4,191 people as positive to the coronavirus across the country during last 24 hours.

According to latest data appeared on National Coronavirus Dashboard of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), Pakistan reported 120 new fatalities on Saturday morning while 4,191 people were tested positive to deadly virus.

The authorities have tested 61,306 people for coronavirus out f them 4,191 people were tested positive for the virus that bring the positivity rate to 6.83 per cent.

The total number of active cases in the country has surged to 93,107 on August 28.  A total 1,029,930 people have so far recovered from the virus.

With 120 new deaths reported in the country the overall fatalities toll jumped to 25,535. With 4,191 people tested positive to coronavirus the overall tally surged to 1,148,572.

Earlier on August 27, the NCOC shared that Pakistan has achieved the milestone of 50 million COVID vaccine doses; taking the total number of doses administered to 50,985,184.
