COVID-19 deaths in Pakistan surge to 939 with 36 new; 43,966 infections reported

ISLAMABAD: COVID-19 death toll in Pakistan crossed 939 as 36 new fatalities were confirmed during last 24 hours. Coronavirus infections jumped to 43,966 after 1841 new cases were reported in last 24 hours.

The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), has confirmed that 1,841 new infections of the COVID-19 in last 24 hours and 36 new deaths.

Sindh still worst-hit province by the coronavirus with 17,241 confirmed cases were reported as highest number of infections along with 280 fatalities, followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Pakistan has so far conducted 400,292 coronavirus tests and 12,957 in last 24 hours. 12,489 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas many are in critical condition. Patients are under treatment at quarantine centers of 462 hospitals where 7,295 beds are available.

As per the latest figure given on National Coronavirus Dashboard of NCOC on May 19, Tuesday 09:40am, in its province-wise break up after confirming the toll of 43,966 infections. Sindh crossed the 17,241 toll of coronavirus cases followed by Punjab with 15,976 infections of the COVID-19 pandemic. The infections confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have reached to 6,230, in Balochistan toll surged to 2,820, 550 was figure in Gilgit-Baltistan, 1,034 in Islamabad Capital Territory and 115 in Azad Jammu Kashmir.

The figure given by Coronavirus Dashboard in its province-wise break up regarding the total 939 deaths reported in the country after 36 new fatalities. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is on top of the fatalities list with 334 deaths while Sindh at number 2 with 280 deaths, Punjab stands with 273 fatalities, Balochistan 38, Gilgit-Baltisan 4, Islamabad Capital Territory 9 and AJK 1.
