COVID-19 let loose reign in Pakistan as 5,358 new cases and 118 new deaths in 24 hrs

ISLAMABAD: COVID-19 let loose the reign of terror in Pakistan and another worst day was witnessed with 5,358 new infections reported across the country along with 118 new deaths during last 24 hours.

With 5,358 new infections reported in last 24 hours the toll of infections jumped to 160,118 infections in the country and with 118 new fatalities reported taken the death toll to 3,093.

Despite efforts are being made to control the coronavirus pandemic, it seems that the deadly virus has stretched its jaws over Pakistan and Pakistanis. But the efforts being made by authorities at the helm of affairs are atill considered as failure to stop the spread of COVID-19.

The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), has confirmed 160.118 coronavirus infections in the country as well as it reported 3,093 deaths due to COVID-19.

Punjab has crossed the toll of 60,000 infections of COVID-19 with the toll surged to 60,138 and Sindh has reached to cross the 60,000 mark as it jumped to 59,983 mark of infections. Punjab is leading the unfortunate list of infections with 60,138 onfection across the province followed by Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Pakistan os about to cross the one ,illion marks of COVID-19 tests as so far 982,012 coronavirus tests were conducted nation-wide out of which 31,500 during last 24 hours. 59,215 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas many are in critical condition. Coronavirus epidemic patients are under treatment at quarantine centers of 462 hospitals where 7,295 beds are available.

According to latest figure displayed on National Coronavirus Dashboard of NCOC on June 18, Thursday 10:20am, the province-wise break up after confirming the toll of 160,118 infections show that Punjab is at top of the infections list with 60,138 coronavirus cases followed by Sindh with.59,983 infections of the COVID-19 pandemic. The infections confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have crossed 19,613 confirmed infections, in Balochistan toll surged to 8,794, Gilgit-Baltistan reached to the toll of 1,213 infections, Islamabad Capital Territory reached to 9,637 and 740 infection reported in Azad Jammu Kashmir.

The figure given by Coronavirus Dashboard in its province-wise break up regarding the total 3,093 deaths reported in the country. Punjab is at top of the list of confirmed deaths with 1,202 as Sindh with 916 deaths at number two. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa death toll surged to 755, Balochistan 94, Gilgit-Baltistan 18, Islamabad Capital Territory 93 and AJK 15.

836 health care workers test positive in Punjab, as data of the provincial disaster management authority over 836 healthcare workers have been found to be infected with COVID-19 out of 4,116 tested till date in Punjab.
