COVID-19 on another day plays havoc by claiming 153 more lives; 6,604 new cases in 24hrs

ISLAMABAD: COVID-19 continue to play havoc in Pakistan as 153 new deaths were confirmed during last 24 hours, besides 6,604 new infections were also reported across the country.

Pakistan during last 24 hours remained in the grip of coronavirus despite tall claims of lockdown even smart lockdown being made by authorities at the helm of affairs. Despite efforts are being made to control the spread of coronavirus pandemic, it seems that the deadly virus has stretched its jaws over Pakistan and Pakistanis.

Coronavirus is still at run in Pakistan and with 153 more deaths reported the death toll surged to 3,382 and with 6,604 new nfections the toll reached to 171,666 across the country.

The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), has confirmed 171.666 coronavirus infections in the country as well as it reported 3,382 deaths due to COVID-19.

Sindh and Punjab crossed the mark of 60,000 infections of COVID-19 and the two provinces are rapicly moving to touch the 70,000 mark. Sindh is at top of the unfortunate list with 65,163 and Punjab with 64,216 coronavirus infections. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also crossed the 20,000 mark of infections with 20,790 infections reported in the province while Islamabad Capital Territory also crossed 10,000 infections mark with 10,279 infections reported so far.

Pakistan crossed one million mark of COVID-19 tests as so far 1,042,787 coronavirus tests were conducted nation-wide out of which 31,681 during last 24 hours. 63,504 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas many are in critical condition. Coronavirus epidemic patients are under treatment at quarantine centers of 462 hospitals where 7,295 beds are available.

According to latest figure displayed on National Coronavirus Dashboard of NCOC on June 20, Saturday 10:00am, the province-wise break up after confirming the toll of 171,666 infections show that Sindh jumped the toll of infections with 65,163 coronavirus cases followed by Punjab with.64,216 infections of the COVID-19 pandemic. The infections confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have crossed 20,790 confirmed infections, in Balochistan toll surged to 9,162, Gilgit-Baltistan reached to the toll of 1,253 infections, Islamabad Capital Territory reached to 10,279 and 769 infection reported in Azad Jammu Kashmir.

The figure given by Coronavirus Dashboard in its province-wise break up regarding the total 3,382 deaths reported in the country. Punjab is at top of the list of confirmed deaths with 1,347 as Sindh with 1,013 deaths at number two. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa death toll surged to 789, Balochistan 100, Gilgit-Baltistan 21, Islamabad Capital Territory 95 and AJK 17.
