COVID-19 positivity rate falls to 4.6%; 65 deaths, 2,724 cases reported in one day

ISLAMABAD: Coronavirus pandemic positivity rate falls to 4.6 per cent the lowest in Pakistan as durng last 24 hours the virus claimed 65 more lives while 2,724 more people were tested positive to deadly virus.

The Government on Wednesday has confirmed 65 new deaths and 2,724 more people were tested positive. 2,724 new coronavirus cases took the toll of infections to 908,576 cases. During last 24 hours 65 new deaths were reported that took the toll of fatalities to 20,465.

According to latest figures displayed on National Coronavirus Dashboard of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), The NCOC conducted overall 13 million coronavirus testes across the country while 59,076 COVID-19 tests conducted in 24 hours, out of them 2,724 were tested positive.

The coronavirus positivity ratio in Pakistan falls to 4.93% as on Wednesday. The number of active COVID-19 cases in the country is 78,959, while 827,843 people have recovered from the virus so far and 4,242 were reported to be in critical condition.

Punjab remained the worst hit province during this month as positivity rate is still high than the remaining parts of country where it has shown downward trend while the toll of infections reached to 336,315 in the province. Sindh has reported 311,766 overall coronavirus epidemic infections, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Punjab has overtaken Sindh in most number of casualties.

The new cases have taken the national tally of positive cases to 908,576 with 336,315 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Punjab, 311,766 in Sindh, 130,644 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 80,662 in Islamabad, 24,733 in Balochistan, 18,940 in Azad Kashmir and 5,516 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Nationwide till of deaths surged to 20,465 out of that 9,875 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 4,942 in Sindh, 3,990 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 748 in Islamabad, 532 in Azad Kashmir, 271 in Balochistan, and 107 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Pakistan has so far conducted 12,943,620 coronavirus tests and 59,076 in the last 24 hours. 827,843 patients have recovered in the country whereas 4,242 patients are in critical condition.
