ISLAMABAD: Death toll in Pakistan has crossed the 770, after 33 new fatalities were reported during last 24 hours round the country. The tally of infections jumped to 35,788, after 1,452 new patients were reported positive.
With the decision of Federal Government vis-a-vis provincial government to ease the lockdown, Pakistan witnessed rapid increase in the infections being reported by the authorities, yesterday (Wednesday) was worst as 2,255 new infections were reported the highest and lowest in these days was 1,452 cases confirmed during last 24 hours.
Death toll reached to 770 after 33 new fatalities were confirmed during last 24 hours. As many as 9,695 people have defeated the coronavirus epidemic after they have recovered from the virus.
Pakistan has so far conducted 330,750 coronavirus tests and 13,051 in last 24 hours. 9,695 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas many are in critical condition. At present there are 462 hospitals with 7,295 beds available, working as quarantine centers.
As per the latest figure given on National Coronavirus Dashboard of National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) on Thursday 9:30am, 1,452 persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 during last 24 hours.
As per confirmed figure given on Coronavirus Dashboard of NCOC, in its province-wise break up after confirming the toll of 35,788, Punjab remained the worst-hit province by the pandemic, followed by Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Province-wise break up shows the figure that Punjab crossed the 13,561 toll of coronavirus cases followed by 13,341 infections of coronavirus pandemic in Sindh. The infections confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have reached to 5,252, in Balochistan toll surged to figure of confirmed cases 2,239, 482 was figure in Gilgit-Baltistan, 822 in Islamabad Capital Territory and 91 in Azad Jammu Kashmir.
The figure given by Coronavirus Dashboard in its province-wise break up regarding the total deaths reported in the country was 770 after 33 more fatalities were reported round the country. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is on top of the fatalities list with 275 deaths while Sindh at number 2 with 234 deaths, Punjab stands with 223 fatalities, Balochistan 27, Gilgit-Baltisan 4, Islamabad Capital Territory 6 and Azad Jammu Kashmir 1.
Officials have recorded more than 4.2 million cases and more than 287,000 deaths since the virus emerged in China in December.
Violation of SOPs: Punjab govt considers closing various markets in Lahore
Following the continuous violation of SOPs and precautionary measures by the traders, the Punjab government is considering closing various markets in Lahore.
According to sources, a high level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar. The meeting expressed serious concerns over the situation in the markets.
Sources said that SOPs were being violated in markets and the proposal to close some markets immediately in being considered.
According to sources, the government is considering to close Hall Road, Shah Alam Market, Anarkali and Azam Market in Lahore, while there are no security measures at Ichhra Bazaar, Township Bazaar and other places.
Sources privy to the government said that the shops will be challaned in the first phase and then the shops will be sealed as SOPs do not seem to be implemented.
