COVID-19 starts wreak havoc as 5,248 new cases; 97 new deaths reported in 24 hrs

ISLAMABAD: COVID-19 has started wreak havoc in Pakistan and people of Pakistan have started to pay for callous policies and lack of commitment to save people from the virus. The number of new confirmed infections in the country in last 24 hours were reported 5,248 cases and 97 new deaths.

With 5,248 new cases reported in last 24 hours the toll of infections jumped to 144,478 cases while the death toll with 88 new deaths surged to 2,729.

The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), has confirmed 144.478 coronavirus infections in the country as well it reported 2,729 deaths due to COVID-19. Punjab crossed and Sindh crossed the 50,000 mark of coronavirus infections. Toll of infections in Punjab surged 54,138 and Sindh 53,805 infections, which rang alarm for the policy planners of the country.

According to province break-up given on National Coronavirus Dashboard of NCOC Punjab is at top of the list as worst-hit province by the coronavirus pandemic with 54,138 confirmed cases the highest number along with 969 fatalities, followed by Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Pakistan has so far conducted 897,650 coronavirus tests and 29,085 in last 24 hours. 53,721 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas many are in critical condition. Coronavirus epidemic patients are under treatment at quarantine centers of 462 hospitals where 7,295 beds are available.

According to latest figure displayed on National Coronavirus Dashboard of NCOC on June 15, Monday 09:20am, the province-wise break up after confirming the toll of 144,478 infections show that Punjab is at top of the infections list with 54,138 coronavirus cases followed by Sindh with.53,805 infections of the COVID-19 pandemic. The infections confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have crossed 18,013 confirmed infections, in Balochistan toll surged to 8,569, Gilgit-Baltistan reached to the toll of 1,129 infections, Islamabad Capital Territory reached to 8,569 and 647 infection reported in Azad Jammu Kashmir.

The figure given by Coronavirus Dashboard in its province-wise break up regarding the total 2,729 deaths reported in the country. Punjab is at top of the list of confirmed deaths with 969 as Sindh with 831 deaths at number two. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa death toll surged to 675 and the province has shown a little decline in fatalities. Balochistan 85 Gilgit-Baltistan 16, Islamabad Capital Territory 75 and AJK 12.
