COVID-19 Third Wave: Pakistan reports 5,395, highest in 9-months, with 118 new deaths

ISLAMABAD: Coronavorus third wave has continue to take toll as during last 24 hours Pakistan reported 5,395 new positive cases across country and 118 new deaths were also reported.

Despite restrictions on SOPs and imposition of smart lockdown, the Coronavirus pandemic is taking new spike across country as during last 24 hours country reported 118 deaths, while 5,395 more people were tested positive.

On Thursday morning the country has reported 118 new deaths by COVID-19 pandemic that took the toll of fatalities to 15,872, while 5,395 more people were tested positive taking the tally to 739,818 round the Pakistan.

According to latest figures displayed on National Coronavirus Dashboard of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), the NCOC confirmed the death of 118 more people during last 24 hours besides reported that 5,395 persons tested positive for COVID-19.

Punjab has been declared worst hit province during this month as positivity rate of the province was witnessed over 11 per cent in some parts. Sindh has reported 270,310 overall coronavirus epidemic infections remained the worst-hit province of the country in terms of cases followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Punjab has overtaken Sindh in most number of casualties.

So far across the country 270,310 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 258,441 in Punjab, 102,290 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 68,066 in Islamabad, 20,580 in Balochistan, 14,978 in Azad Kashmir and 5,153 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Nationwide tally of fatalities remains 15,872 out of that 7,209 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 4,533 in Sindh, 2,761 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 625 in Islamabad, 420 in Azad Kashmir, 221 in Balochistan, and 103 in Gilgit Baltistan.

Pakistan has so far conducted 10,942,771 coronavirus tests and 64,685 in the last 24 hours. 646,652 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas 4,276 patients are in critical condition.
