LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claims to have arrested thirteen terrorists during Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) carried out in several cities of Punjab.
According to the CTD spokesperson, the operation was carried out in Lahore, Attock, Bahawalnagar, Jhelum, Sheikhupura, Rawalpindi and Bahawalpur.
As many as five terrorists were arrested from Attock and three were arrested from Lahore.
The CTD spokesperson added that explosive material, detonators, mobile phones, weapons, ammunitions and cash were recovered from the suspects.
The terrorists were later identified as Khursheed, Rasheed, Irfan, Luqman, Waheed, Rizwan, Amir and Wajid.
The terrorists were planning to target key government offices and installations, said the CTD spokesperson.
As many as 105 suspects were arrested by the CTD in 625 combing operations past week while 27,229 people were interrogated by the law-enforcement agency (LEA).
The spokesperson added that the CTD was committed to rooting out the menace of terrorism from Punjab in a bid to ensure security of the citizens.
