RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Islamabad Tax Bar Association (RITBA) said the date for exemption from automatic audit should be extended to provide relief to taxpayers.
Thousands of taxpayers want to get their audit cases closed therefore the government should extend the date of closure of automatic audit, it demanded.
The date of filing returns has been extended many times, therefore, the date for closure of audit should also be extended, said officials of RITBA Zahid Shafiq and Sofia Akhtar.
They said the decision to close audit cases under section 214-E of the Income Tax Ordinance has benefitted many businessmen and its extension will provide relief to the taxpayers.
Such a decision will not only help taxpayers but also raise sizable revenge and reduce the burden on the tax authorities, they added.
The tax consultants underlined that the taxpayers deserve an option for the conclusion of their pending audits automatically upon the fulfilment of certain conditions.
They said that extension in the deadline of the closure of audit will also facilitate the process of broadening of the tax base. (INP)
