Deafening silence

There has been deafening silence by the world community, as Delhi witnessed most disturbing scenes when Muslims were killed, their properties were set on fire and mosques were targeted.

What a pity. President of the United States Donald Trump was touring India but he avoided passing any comment on atrocities being committed by state on Muslims.

Advertisment

As per media reports, around three dozen innocent Muslims have been killed while more than 200 people are injured by violent mobs of extremist Hindus. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has come out with an open agenda to target Muslims who are in minority in more than one billion population.

BJP leader Narendra Modi has not only annexed occupied Kashmir by imposing over 200-day curfew but made lives of Muslims in India miserable by introducing most controversial citizenship law. Now Muslims are running for their lives, as violent Hindus have been torching them alive and their properties are damaged. The scale of unabated violence against Muslims is spreading across the country.

Turkish President Tayyab Erdogan, addressing joint session of Pakistani parliament earlier this month, condemned Indian Hindutva agenda against Muslims but rest of global leaders have unfortunately zipped their lips. Fingers are being pointed towards disappointing role of the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) in this entire scenario.

The European Union (EU) and other international bodies must speak their conscience over genocide of Muslims in India and occupied Kashmir. Its alarming that all is being done under the patronage of Indian state.

Muslims are being targeted brutally by extremists, even some videos shared on social media expose role of police and law enforcement agencies in utter failure to stop this massacre. Television screens showed how students were attacked by police personnel while they were studying in library of a university. The world must act unless it’s too late.
