Death toll in Pakistan jumps to 1,225 while confirmed cases surge to 59,151

ISLAMABAD: Death toll in Pakistan due to COVID-19 reached to 1,225 on Wednesday morning. The tally of confirmed infections were reported as 59.151 nation-wide.

The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), has confirmed that 1,446 new infections of the COVID-19 during last 24 hours across the country along with 28 fatalities during this period.

Sindh is still the worst-hit province by the coronavirus pandemic as it has crossed the toll of 23,507 confirmed cases the highest number along side with 374 fatalities, followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Pakistan is about to cross the half a million tests of the coronavirus epidemic as so far conducted 499,399 tests were conducted out of which 8,491 in last 24 hours. 19,142 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas many are in critical condition.

Patients are under treatment at quarantine centers of 462 hospitals where 7,295 beds are available.

According to latest figure given on National Coronavirus Dashboard of NCOC on May 27, Wdenesday 10:00am, the province-wise break up after confirming the toll of 59,151 infections. Sindh jumped to 23,507 toll of coronavirus cases followed by Punjab with 21,118 infections of the COVID-19 pandemic. The infections confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have reached to 8,259, in Balochistan toll surged to 3,536, Gilgit-Baltistan reached to the toll of 638 infections, Islamabad Capital Territory reached to 1,879 and 214 infection reported in Azad Jammu Kashmir.

The figure given by Coronavirus Dashboard in its province-wise break up regarding the total 1,225 deaths reported in the country. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is on top of the fatalities list with 416 deaths while Sindh at number 2 with 374 deaths, Punjab stands with 362 fatalities, Balochistan 42, Gilgit-Baltisan 9, Islamabad Capital Territory 18 and AJK 4.
