Death toll in Pakistan surges to 803 with 33 new cases; confirmed cases jump 37,218

ISLAMABAD: Death toll in Pakistan has crossed the 803, after 33 new fatalities were reported during last 24 hours. The tally of confirmed infections jumped to 37,218, after 1,430 new patients were reported positive.

With the decision of Federal Government vis-a-vis provincial government to ease the lockdown, Pakistan witnessed rapid increase in the infections being reported by the authorities, yesterday (Wednesday) was worst as 2,255 new infections were reported the highest and lowest in these days was 1,452 cases confirmed during last 24 hours. Federal Government has announced a three-day lockdown from today (Friday).

Death toll reached to 803 after 33 new fatalities were confirmed during last 24 hours. As many as 9,695 people have defeated the coronavirus epidemic after they have recovered from the virus.

Pakistan has so far conducted 330,750 coronavirus tests and 13,051 in last 24 hours. 9,695 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas many are in critical condition. At present there are 462 hospitals with 7,295 beds available, wrking as quarantine centers.

As per the latest figure given on National Coronavirus Dashboard of National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) on Friday 8:30am, 1,430 persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 during last 24 hours.

As per confirmed figure given on Coronavirus Dashboard of NCOC, in its province-wise break up after confirming the toll of 37,218, Sindh took the position worst-hit province with tally of 14,099, followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Province-wise break up shows the figure that Sindh crossed the 14,099 toll of coronavirus cases followed by 13,914 infections of coronavirus pandemic in Punjab. The infections confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have reached to 5,423, in Balochistan toll surged to figure of confirmed cases 2,310, 501 was figure in Gilgit-Baltistan, 866 in Islamabad Capital Territory and 105 in Azad Jammu Kashmir.

The figure given by Coronavirus Dashboard in its province-wise break up regarding the total deaths reported in the country was 803 after 33 more fatalities were reported round the country. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is on top of the fatalities list with 284 deaths while Sindh at number 2 with 243 deaths, Punjab stands with 234 fatalities, Balochistan 30, Gilgit-Baltisan 4, Islamabad Capital Territory 7 and AJK 1.

Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has decided not to attend the ongoing National Assembly sessions after three reporters and two lawmakers tested positive for the virus.

“On the request of deputy speaker, I had decided to attend today’s parliament session but three parliamentary reporters and two senators have tested positive for the virus,” said the minister in a tweet. He added that it was evident that the reporters had contracted the virus from the Parliament building.

“Due to this, I have decided not to postpone my decision and I hope a virtual session is called,” said the minister.
