Death toll in Pakistan surges to 903; COVID-19 cases jump to 42,125

ISLAMABAD: Death toll in Pakistan surged to 903 with 30 new fatalities by coronavirus were reported during last 24 hours. COVID-19 infections jumped to 42,125 after 1974 more cases were reported in 24 hours.

The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), has confirmed that 1,974 new infections of the COVID-19 in last 24 hours and 30 new deaths.

Sindh still a worst-hit province by the pandemic with 16,377 infections were reported as highest number of infections, followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

So far 388,420 coronavirus tests were conducted round the country and 14,188 in last 24 hours. 12,341 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas many are in critical condition. Patients are under treatment at quarantine centers of 462 hospitals where 7,295 beds are available.

As per the latest figure given on National Coronavirus Dashboard of NCOC on May 18, Monday 09:20am, in its province-wise break up after confirming the toll of 42,125 infections. Sindh crossed the 16,377 toll of coronavirus cases followed by Punjab with 15,346 infections of coronavirus pandemic. The infections confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have reached to 6,061, in Balochistan toll surged to 2,692, 540 was figure in Gilgit-Baltistan, 997 in Islamabad Capital Territory and 112 in Azad Jammu Kashmir.

The figure given by Coronavirus Dashboard in its province-wise break up regarding the total 903 deaths reported in the country after 30 new fatalities. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is on top of the fatalities list with 318 deaths while Sindh at number 2 with 268 deaths, Punjab stands with 260 fatalities, Balochistan 36, Gilgit-Baltisan 4, Islamabad Capital Territory 7 and AJK 1.

Punjab Health Minister Yasmin Rashid has said that the relaxation in lockdown does not mean an indication of COVID-19 has been eliminated, Be safe and maintain social distancing when outdoors and do not forget to wash your hands frequently. Children and elderly should preferably stay home.

As per national dashboard, 50 new cases were detected in the federal capital while 148 new cases were reported in Balochistan.

Confirmed cases in the country climbed to 42,125 after new cases were reported in Islamabad and Balochistan. Overall 16,377 cases have been recorded in Sindh, 15,346 in Punjab, 6,061 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 2,692 in Balochistan, 997 in Islamabad, 540 in Gilgit Baltistan, and 112 in AJK.

Officials have recorded more than 4.6 million cases and more than 310,000 deaths since the virus emerged in China in December.
