ISLAMABAD: In a move to bolster the capabilities of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Caretaker Interior Minister Dr. Gohar Ijaz, accompanied by Secretary Interior Aftab Akbar Durrani, made a visit to the FIA Headquarters on Thursday.
FIA officials gave a comprehensive briefing to the minister on the agency’s operations, the spokesperson of the agency said in a press statement issued after the huddle.
During the meeting, the Minister was presented with a detailed report highlighting the annual performance of all FIA wings.
Dr. Gohar Ijaz lauded performance of the agency’s different wings and expressed appreciation for the initiation of projects focused on modernizing the FIA to meet contemporary requirements.
The Caretaker Minister underscored the escalating importance of modern technology in tackling the challenges of the contemporary world. In particular, he emphasized the crucial role of technology in combating human smuggling, trafficking, and cybercrime.
Advocating for the enhancement of FIA officials’ capacity and their adaptability to modern technological requirements, Dr. Gohar Ijaz called for a concerted effort in leveraging technology effectively. He stressed the optimal utilization of all available resources to improve public service delivery.
As the FIA gears up for a more technologically advanced and responsive future, the Minister’s visit signals a crucial step towards ensuring the agency is well-equipped to address the multifaceted challenges of the modern era, FIA spokesperson said.
The visit and subsequent discussions reflect the government’s commitment to fortifying the country’s security apparatus and staying abreast of technological advancements in the ever-evolving landscape of law enforcement, he added.
Earlier, upon his arrival, Director General (DG) FIA Ahmad Ishaque Jehangir extended a warm welcome to the minister. The gathering included all Assistant Directors General (ADGs), Directors, and other senior officers of the FIA.
