Explosion kills five, injures 20 in Karachi’s Gulshan Iqbal

KARACHI: At least five people were killed and more than 20 others received injuries in an explosion in a four-storey building at Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 7.
As per details, nature of the blast has not been ascertained yet but in charge of CTD has said that explosion is likely a cylinder blast. The impact of the explosion was so severe that windowpanes of the nearby building were shattered. Balconies of two apartments have been completely destroyed, rescue officials said.
Police and Rangers have reached the place of incident launched a rescue operation while clearance operation by Bomb disposal squad is also underway.
The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital where the condition of seven people is said to be critical.
DG Sindh Rangers visited the place of the incident and inspected the damaged apartments.
While talking to media persons, the DG told that all injured have been rescued and damaged building has also been evacuated. He also revealed that the building will be demolished.
Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed grief over loss of precious human lives and sought report from Commissioner Karachi while IG Sindh police has summoned a report from SSP East.
