LAHORE: Hundreds of labourers on Tuesday staged sit-in on Mall Road Lahore against the government’s decision to ban plastic shopping bags.
The protesters, working in different shopping bags manufacturing companies, said that this step of government will take employment from massive people.
Five thousand factories are producing shopping bags in Punjab. How can government control environmental pollution with the unemployment of 1 million families, they asked.
The workers also advised the authorities to devise proper law instead of banning shopping bags. They further said that there is not even a single country that has imposed complete ban on the use of plastic bags.

On the other hand, a complete ban on plastic bags has been enforced across the Sindh. The local government has stated that a case will be registered against those using shopping bags after which, proper investigation will be held.
Climate Ministry has been directed to ensure the implementation on the orders.(INP)
