LAHORE: Pakistan Showbiz icon Fawad Khan has opened up about the pressure he faced while working on his upcoming cross-border romantic drama, Aabeer Gulaal, which is set to release internationally on Friday (today).

Speaking about the film, the actor described it as a “palette cleanser” in today’s landscape of emotionally intense and dark cinema.

“In today’s cinema, we see so much intensity and heaviness that people yearn for a chance to breathe,” Fawad remarked. He compared the film to “a comforting dish made of simple ingredients, where every flavour is allowed to stand out clearly.”

Fawad candidly admitted he was concerned about whether the film would even reach audiences: “I was very worried. There was a lot of pressure around the film’s release,” he shared. “But my belief in the story and its message helped me push forward.”

Aabeer Gulaal will see a global release across Pakistan, the UAE, and several other territories—but not in India, due to regulatory restrictions and ongoing diplomatic tensions. This decision has sparked disappointment among Indian fans.

“We can’t enjoy the film just because of politics,” one user lamented on social media. Another expressed hope, saying: “I hope it becomes available online on some platform too.”

Despite the limited regional release, the film has already struck a chord with audiences through its trailers, which have been praised for their emotional depth and aesthetic minimalism. The chemistry between Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor has also drawn attention, with many highlighting the cross-border significance of a story centered on love and human connection.
