Federal budget’s figures contradictory to Economic Survey: PPP

Budget 10062020 - The News Today - TNT

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Finance Secretary Haider Zaman Qureshi reacting to the budget presented in the National Assembly has said that the figures given in budget are contradictory to the figures given in the economic survey of Pakistan.

Qureshi said that the government’s failures in achieving the tax targets and growth rate cannot be blamed on Covid-19. This is the first budget in the 68 years history that the growth rate has been negative that is -0.4 percent despite Pakistan in the past has fought wars, faced floods and the country was divided into two in 1971.

When the government claims that GDP will not increase then setting tax target as 4970 billion rupees is only a figment of imagination. Qureshi said that the people were not given any relief in the budget rather cuts in the provinces share, health, education and agriculture will further compound people’s misery.

Meanwhile Naveed Qamar MNA rejected this anti-people budget. He said that anyway no one expected a good budget from this PTI government after the experience of the last two years. There has been no salary increase for the poor people of Pakistan despite increase in inflation. The government did
not give any relief to the people who are facing difficulties due to Covid-19.
