KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Agriculture Muhammad Ismail Rahu has said that the dream of the federation to build a new city on the coast of Sindh
This will never come true as the federation is not authorized to build anything in any part of the province without permission of the provincial government, he said
In a statement issued here on Monday, he said that construction of new cities on Bhandar and Dingi Islands is in fact the possession of Sindh.
The federation will not be allowed to occupy the lands and resources of Sindh
Ismail Rahu said that according to the constitution of Pakistan, up to 12 nautical miles of maritime boundaries falls under the jurisdiction of Sindh government, the federation will not be allowed to occupy the lands and resources of Sindh.
He said that the federation is bringing Pakistan Islands Development Authority 2020 Act to occupy the coastal islands of Sindh and Balochistan which is not acceptable.
The federation could not amend Rule 27 (5) A and Rule 27 (8) 1973 for the authority without the permission of the provinces, he added.
Ismail Rahu said that settling the city on the beaches would destroy all aquatic life including fish and tamarind forests.
Musharraf’s attempts to build cities on Bhandar and Dangi Islands also failed, he maintained.
