Dar - The News Today - TNT

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, while rejecting the default speculation, said on Saturday the country’s economy was heading in the right direction and there was no risk of default.

Speaking to the All-Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) members during a ceremony in Islamabad, Ishaq Dar took a jibe at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) top brass, saying the PTI leaders were spreading baseless rumours about the economic situation.

He said these speculations were damaging investors trust and creating uncertainty among them.

“Pakistan’s economy is heading in the right direction and there is no risk of default,” said Ishaq Dar.

Earlier on Friday, the interior minister said economy, not elections, was the most pressing issue of the country. He said a charter of economy was needed and urged all political parties to come together to work on it. The interior minister said talks could end the deadlock and help solve the issues. But, he added, the dialogue must be unconditional.

Talking about the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo s return to the country, Rana Sanaullah said Nawaz Sharif would return to Pakistan to lead the party s election campaign. He further said though it was not feasible to conduct the general election in the country right now, the date of next polls could be discussed with the opposition if they were ready for unconditional talks.
