Five CTD personnel, 2 civilians martyred as fugitives open fire in Chilas

CHILAS: Five Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel and two civilians have been martyred in Chilas as suspects opened fire on the team in Ronai area of Chilas on Tuesday.
According to official sources, the CTD personnel were conducting a search operation to nab fugitives when the suspects opened fire on them. Five officials were wounded in the incident whereas two civilians also lost their lives.
The martyred personnel – comprising one officer and four sepoys – include Junaid, Shakeel, Sohrab, Ishtiaq and Ghulam Murtaza. The injured and the dead bodies are shifted to hospital.
Mir Afzal Khan, Gilgit-Baltistan caretaker chief minister, has summoned report of attack on the CTD team. He paid tribute to the martyrs and vowed to take action against the accused.
