Newly elected Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly members take oath

GILGIT: During the first session, the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly’s newly elected members took oath on Monday at the Assembly Hall in Gilgit, APP reported.

A total of 30 members took the oath as the first session of the sixth assembly convened in Gilgit. These included 21 lawmakers elected on general seats, six women members on reserved seats and three technocrats. The results for three general constituencies remain pending due to ongoing legal and electoral proceedings.

The session was presided over by Speaker Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Nazeer Ahmed Advocate, who administered the oath to the newly elected lawmakers.

During the ceremony, all members pledged to serve the people, uphold the Constitution and the law, and discharge their responsibilities with honesty and dedication.

After oath-taking, the Assembly will proceed with its subsequent business in accordance with the Rules of Procedure, including the election of the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and the Leader of the House, along with other parliamentary matters.
