RAWALPINDI: German Chief of Defence Staff General Eberhard Zorn, called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters on Wednesday, said an Inter-Services Public Relations statement.
The ISPR said that during the meeting matters of mutual interest were discussed including defence and security cooperation and overall regional security situation particularly standoff between India and Pakistan.
The ISPR said that the visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s positive role for peace and stability in the region. He also made appreciated Pakistan’s services in United Nations peacekeeping and expressed desire to enhance bilateral relations.
Earlier on arrival at the GHQ, the Chief of Defence Staff laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented the guard of honour to the visiting dignitary, the ISPR added.
Vice Foreign Minister of China calls on COAS
Later on, Vice Foreign Minister of China Kong Xuanyou also called on Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and discuss the matters of mutual interest, regional security, bilateral cooperation and current situation between Pakistan and India were discussed at the meeting. The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace and stability.
