Government developing consensus to appoint CEC, ECP members: Khattak

PESHAWAR: Government is making all out efforts to develop consensus for appointment of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and other members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), said Federal Minister for Defence Pervez Khattak.

Addressing a public meeting in Peshawar on Monday, Pervez Khattak said that to ensure transparency in this connection, the Opposition is being taken on board.

He said the government is still in talks with the Opposition’s leadership to bring good and qualified people to the Election Commission.

The Defence Minister said the government and Prime Minister Imran Khan would complete their five years tenure and there is no sign of in-House change.
