ISLAMABAD: Authorities are gathering information of potential tax payers through different channels including banking transactions, utility bills, land records and even travel history and expenses incurred on children education.
Incumbent government said in the past, the tax department relied only on the information provided by the taxpayers. They did not have any independent data or information of the economic transactions available with them.
An official press release said present government is gathering relevant information through all possible means available to it. There will be no extension in the June 30th deadline to avail tax amnesty scheme.
It is collecting information economic transactions including banking sector, electricity and gas connections, land records and other consumption data relating to expenses like travel history, children education expenses and records through NADRA.
‘’We will be using any other possible means in accordance with the international best practices’’ an official remarked.
Tax official warned that it will be difficult, rather impossible, for any person to undertake the economic transactions which remains outside the purview of financial system of the country.
It will be a different FBR now, the official vowed.
The officials said no one should have any misapprehension about this operation being carried out by tax authorities. The government would make sure it has all the information available with by next month before launching possible crackdown against tax evaders.
‘’The Assets Declaration Scheme 2019, be availed in order to live in a peaceful, comfortable, and a civilized manner for the betterment of Pakistan’’ the officials added.
