DIR: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan, Senator Sirjaul Haq has said that a new budget and a new issue was being announced in the Naya Pakistan every day and the government was inflicting strips of price hike on the masses’ back .
Talking to different delegations at his home constituency Samar Bagh in Dir on Tuesday, Sirajul Haq said that if the government took away the peoples’ right to live, they would have no option except to stage protest.
He said that the incompetence and poor performance of the government was hurting the state institutions and their association with a party was damaging their image.
The JI chief urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo-moto notice of the video leaks issue in order to save the judicial system.
He said that the main issue before the JI at present was not to get the release or conviction of any one, as the JI was primarily concerned about protecting the masses from price hike, unemployment and poverty.
Sirajul Haq said that every day, the government was giving the masses the “good news” of rise in the prices of gas, petrol and electricity but it was also claiming that no new taxes had been imposed. He asked if NEPRA and OGRA were not state institutions who were sucking the blood of the people.
He said the people were simply asking for two times meals, the young men were demanding jobs and the homeless were asking for shelter. However, he said, the government had backed out from all its promises and its performance so far was disappointing.
The JI chief said that since the voice of the masses was not reaching the rulers, they had no option but to stage protest. However, he said, the government seemed to be bent upon snatching this democratic right of the people.
Siraj said the constitution gave the right of public meetings and protests to the people. He said that if the masses were protesting against the rulers claiming to be democratic, they would have to listen to them.
