Government Keeps Petrol Price Unchanged, Hikes HSD by Rs5

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif-led government announced that the price of petrol would remain unchanged, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) was raised by Rs5 per litre for the next fortnight.

The notification issued by the finance ministry, has revealed, “The Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has worked out the consumer prices of petroleum products, based on the price variations in the international market.”

It added the prices of petroleum products for the next fortnight, starting from 16th October 2024.

With the adjustment, the petrol price now stands at Rs247.03 per litre, while the new cost of high-speed diesel is Rs251.29 per litre.

It is noteworthy that just a few weeks prior, on September 30, the government had announced a reduction in fuel prices. Petrol was decreased by Rs2.7, high-speed diesel by Rs3.40, and light-speed diesel by R1.3per litre.
