Government, PTI agree on appointment of NA opposition leader

After prolonged discussions, the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have reached a consensus regarding the appointment of the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar stated that the opposition leader’s seat had been vacant since August 7, a fact officially confirmed by the National Assembly Speaker in the House.

Barrister Gohar said that the procedure for appointing the opposition leader had been finalised with the Speaker, and the PTI would submit the required documents to fill the spot. He added that Mahmood Khan Achakzai had been selected for the position of opposition leader.

According to the PTI chairman, a formal notification of Mahmood Khan Achakzai’s appointment is expected to be issued by Thursday. He emphasised that the matter is being followed in accordance with constitutional and parliamentary procedures.
