HYDERABAD: In a tragic turn of events, a young groom named Abdullah lost his life on his wedding day, while 15 others were seriously injured when their coaster was struck from behind by a speeding trawler on the Hyderabad-Karachi Motorway on Monday.
The fatal accident occurred on the M-9 Motorway, within the jurisdiction of Loni Kot Police Station, reportedly due to overspeeding.
The injured included three of the groom’s brothers, as well as women and children. The wedding party was traveling from Naushero Feroze to Hyderabad when the collision occurred.
Local police rushed to the scene shortly after the accident was reported and shifted the deceased and the injured to LIMS Hospital for medical treatment.
The joyous occasion turned into a scene of mourning as grieving family members and guests wept over the tragic loss of the groom.
This incident comes just a day after another similar tragedy. On Sunday, another groom, identified as Abdul Shakoor, a resident of Lalian, Chiniot, was killed on his Walima day, and two others were injured when their motorcycle collided with a speeding trailer on the Narowal–Shakargarh Road.
The injured in that incident were identified as Asadullah of Raipur and Waris Umar of Lalian, according to rescue officials.
