MIRPUR: Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms lashed several areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, including Mirpur, while light snowfall was reported in the higher regions of Neelum Valley and Leepa Valley, partially disrupting daily life.

According to the official sources, the area suffered torrential downpour at the last leg of the ending winter this since Sunday evening turning the weather chilly forcing masses to get into winter clothing again at upper reaches besides plains in the Himalayan state.

Life partially paralysed in various upper reaches of AJK especially in top mountainous scenic Leepa and Neelam vallies besides adjoining plains after seasons’ heaviest snowfall downpour in lower parts of the state.

Mirpur lashed with the heavy downpour   coupled with wind storm since which was continuing intermittently affecting the electricity, roads and telecommunication system in various areas of the district.

Various parts of AJK including in Mirpur divisions lashed with the much-predicted intermittent heavy rainfall which affected the normal life.

Due to the wind storm, there are also reports of uprooting of trees and electricity poles at several kacha places. The electricity system was particularly affected in Mirpur city as a result of the cats and dogs rainfall which was continuing with pause.
