“I urge the world to make the Kashmir valley peaceful and play their role in stopping atrocities on innocent Kashmiris,” Amir said while talking to media on the occasion.“Apart from eminent personalities of Pakistan, famous and influential people from all around the globe should raise their voices in support of Kashmiris for the sake of humanity and peace,” he said.

The boxer said: “I was told to not visit LoC but I want to visit here anyway as I came all the way from Britain to express solidarity with Kashmiri brethren.”

“ Azad Kashmir is peaceful but the people of Jammu & Kashmir are alone,” he further said.

This visit by the athlete comes in light of the increasing tensions between Pakistan and India following New Delhi’s decision to strip occupied Kashmir of its autonomous status.
