ISLAMABAD: As part security plan for Eid ul Azha, police personnel and Private security guards would be deployed at the entrance of more than 1000 mosques during Eid Prayers.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar in a meeting on Saturday directed the force to remain alert to avert any untoward situation on the Eid.
The meeting was also attended by DIG (Security) Waqar Ahmed Chohan, DIG (Operations) Waqar Uddin Syed, DIG (Headquarters) Muhammad Saleem, AIG (Special Branch) and SSPs decided that more than 975 Mosques and 33 Imambargahs will be covered by armed guards and policemen during Eid prayers.
ICT Police, in a press statement issued after the meeting, said walk-through gates would be installed at the entrances of all these worship places.
Police officials would also be deployed at bus stands to address the complaints of passengers in case transporters charge higher than prescribed fare.
“Sub Divisional Police Officers and Station House Officers would be responsible of the security around worship places” the press statement quoted IG Police as saying.
They may be provided an additional force on their request for the effective patrolling and security at Eid congregations in various sectors, the IG Police said maintained.
Duty rosters have been prepared by the in charges of police stations and policemen would patrol in various sectors day and night timings to check house burglaries and ensure protection to properties during Eid holidays.
The mobile officers and police guards posted at Mosques, Imam-bargahs, public and picnic places will take notice of the beggars hovering around the premises and will take legal action against them.
The police claimed it would ensure the safety of properties and stop frequent incidents of theft and car lifting during Eid holidays.
As a part of the security plan, police pickets would be erected at all important entry and exit points of the capital city for checking of vehicles.
Police officials will ensure implementation on section 144 imposed by the District Administration.
There will be strict checks against one-wheelers and those involved in stunts on roads. Dozens of causalities are reported on such special occasions due to wrack-less driving, especially by youngsters.
The mobile patrols and squads of Islamabad Traffic Police would be present in the markets, shopping plazas and prominent points during Eid congregations.
Bomb disposal squad would be available at short notice. All public places, parks, playgrounds will be kept under strict vigilance and security cover.
IG Islamabad directed the Traffic Police to make deployment plans for smooth traffic flow on roads as well as shopping areas. (In additional input from INP)
