KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday has rejected bail pleas of Local Government Secretary Roshan Ali Sheikh and nine others in illegal allotment of land case.
During the hearing, justice Karim Khan Agha remarked that the accused were involved in illegal land allotment across the province by misusing their powers as government employees. This has inflicted heavy loss to the national exchequer, he added.
The judge further refused to hear bail petitions filed by the accused, saying that he had already rejected them and directed the authorities to arrest the LG secretary.
Following the orders, a five-member team of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was present in the court for the detention of Roshan Sheikh, who was still in the courtroom to avoid the arrest.
It is to be mentioned here that Roshan Sheikh had requested the court to delay his NAB custody in the case for seven days.
Earlier, Supreme Court (SC) had directed Sindh government to evacuate government houses illegally occupied by the residents across the province within two months.
During the proceedings on a suo moto notice pertaining to illicit allotment of government houses, the court had ordered to assign the houses on merit to those who deserve them.
The apex court had also sought implementation report from the provincial government and adjourned the hearing for two months.
