SRINAGAR: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President, Mehbooba Mufti, has denounced summoning of political leaders by Indian investigating agencies, saying the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has become part of the Indian government’s election process.
Mehbooba Mufti while talking to reporters in Srinagar said whenever elections are going to take place in the territory, the Indian government employs Enforcement Directorate (ED), National Investigation Agency (NIA), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and other agencies to summon political leaders. This is all aimed to harass the political leaders, she added.
Mehbooba Mufti was reacting to the summoning of National Conference President, Farooq Abdullah, who was directed by the ED authorities to appear in person before the ED office in Srinagar, however, due to his weak health condition he couldn’t visit the ED office yesterday, according to his party. — KMS
