SRINAGAR: Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) might face an energy shortfall of more than 4,200 Megawatts (MWs) to 10,000 MWs in next ten years from 2025 to 2035.
The details shared by government officials revealed that the IoK and Ladakh are likely to face electricity shortfall deficit ranging from 4293 MUs to 9929 MUs in different years from 2024-25 to 2034-35 with the existing and planned capacity addition.”
The official documents further reveal that a study was carried out considering existing capacity and planned capacity.
“It was observed that the total unserved energy in the year 2034-35 is about 8730 MU,” it reads.
The study has also analyzed the daily and monthly pattern of unserved energy in the year 2034-35. “It can be seen that contracted capacity (present and planned) is unable to meet the demand.”
