ISLAMABAD: Iran has proposed to mediate between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban as tensions continue to escalate, according to Iranian media on Sunday.
The offer was conveyed by Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi during a phone call with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
The two sides discussed bilateral relations, as well as recent regional and international developments, the report stated.
During talks, Araghchi highlighted the historic and friendly realtionship between Pakistan and Iran, and expressed Tehran’s desire to strengthen cooperation across various sectors.
The Iranian foreign minister voiced concern over the rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan and urged both countries to continue dialogue to resolve their differences and ease the situation.
