Iran’s Supreme Leader Asks Putin to Step Up Support After U.S. Strikes

Iran - The News Today - TNT

TEHRAN: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, seeking greater Russian support in response to the recent U.S. military strikes, the largest seen in the region over the weekend.

The letter was delivered by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, who traveled to Moscow for the purpose. According to a senior source, the message from Khamenei reflects Tehran’s dissatisfaction with the level of support it has received from Russia so far.

Iranian sources said that Tehran wants more robust backing from Moscow against both Israel and the United States, though they did not specify the nature of the requested assistance.

The Kremlin confirmed that President Putin would meet with Araqchi, but declined to share details about the agenda.

“Iran and Russia are coordinating their positions on the current escalation in the Middle East,” Araqchi was quoted as saying by Russia’s state-run TASS news agency.

The diplomatic outreach underscores Iran’s strategic reliance on Russia amid growing regional tensions, especially following intensifying confrontations with Western powers.
