ISLAMABAD: The Government of Japan has conferred the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation 2025 upon Ms. Neveen Syed, Chairperson of the Lahore Floritage Sogetsu Study Group, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to strengthening cultural relations between Japan and Pakistan.
The announcement of the award was made earlier on August 28 by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The commendation was formally presented to Ms. Neveen by the Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Akamatsu Shuichi, during the annual Ikebana flower arrangement exhibition organized by the Lahore Floritage Sogetsu Study Group.
The Lahore Floritage Sogetsu Study Group is dedicated to promoting the traditional Japanese art of Ikebana — the art of flower arrangement — in Pakistan. Under Ms. Neveen’s leadership, the group has held numerous exhibitions and classes, providing a platform for Pakistanis to engage with Japanese culture.
Congratulating Ms. Neveen, Ambassador Akamatsu praised her devotion and efforts, noting that the commendation reflects her vital role in fostering mutual understanding and cultural exchange between the two nations. He expressed confidence that Ms. Neveen would continue serving as a bridge of friendship and goodwill through her continued promotion of Ikebana in Pakistan.
