Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is said to be divided into two groups—one led by party’s president Shahbaz Sharif that believes the party should avoid agitation at the moment to ‘get relief’ whereas the imprisoned Nawaz Sharif is eager to support JUI-F to take Kaptaan down.

Despite Nawaz Sharif’s desire, his party’s central executive committee has decided to reach out to Maulana to convince him to delay lockdown till November.

PML-N claims it wants to delay the move to make it more effective by devising a proper strategy. It shows there is difference of opinion among the PML-N ranks over joining Maulana’s anti-government march at the moment. On the other hand, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has so far distanced from lockdown call. It is evident that Bilawal seems to be very perturbed over the way his father is being treated in Adiala Jail and arrests of other party leaders. He has also hinted the other day to sit with Maulana Fazlur Rehman in a bid to send a message to ‘concerned quarters’.

A crucial meeting is taking place between Shahbaz Sharif and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to hammer out a strategy how to get maximum out of prevailing political situation. Both have certain ‘compulsions’ but they can reach out to Maulana Fazlur Rehman to convince him that his anti-government march be delayed till November or December so that they can also be part of it.

There is a strong feeling among PPP and PML-N camps that incumbent government has been losing public support with every passing day due to deteriorating economic conditions. It is high time for PTI government to deliver and control rising inflation. Skyrocketing inflation, unemployment and poor governance will help opposition parties to take public out on roads. Time is running out.
