ISLAMABAD: Bollywood star Kajol Mukherjee Devgan has turned 46. Born on August 5, 1974, Kajol is celebrating her birthday with family and fans today.
She is the beautiful daughter of actress Tanuja Samarth and late filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee. Kajol is half Bengali and half Marashtarian.
Nickname Kads, she got married on 24th February 1999 to another Indian film star Ajay Devgan and is now blessed with two kids including-daughter Nysa and son- Yug.
Kajol is the evergreen and beauty queen of Bollywood films. She started her career at a very young age of 16, while she was in school. She made her screen debut in the 1992 film “Bekhudi”, a commercial failure.
However, was noted for her performance when she was signed in 1993 in the commercially successful thriller “Baazigar” with Shah Rukh Khan.
During her journey in the film world, out of her 38 movies successful movies, 12 were with co-actor Shah Rukh Khan.
She holds the record of winning the best actress Filmfare award five times. After her negative role as “Isha Diwan” in the film Gupta (1997), she became the first Indian Actress to win a Filmfare Award for a negative role.
She is also a social activist and is known for her work for widows and children. She received the “Karamveer Puraskar” Award in 2008 for her social work and was also honored with the “Padma Shri” award in 2011.
She says that if she would not have been in the film industry, she still would have opted to be a psychiatrist.
In 2010, Kajol Devgan and Shah Rukh Khan became the first Indian actors to be invited by NASDAQ to open the American Stock Exchange.
Her biggest movie Dilwale Dulhania Ley Jayenge (1995) holds the record of reaching one thousand consecutive weeks screening in a single cinema. She is mostly known by name Simran and dialogue; “Ja Simran Jee Ley Apni Zindagi”.
Her friends say she is a very sweet and polite person, who loves outside gatherings, reading books, eating fast food, and knitting. Ajay Devgan said: “All of my friends are Kajol’s friends too but not all Kajol friends are my friends.”
This, he said shows that Kajol is socially more connected and can easily adjust with new people and the environment. She loves capturing the sweet moments in pictures and sharing them with fans on Instagram.
