KARACHI: Friday building collapse in Lyari area of Karachi has not only claimed precious lives but also rendered dozens of drivers unemployed as 35 rickshaws parked in the parking stand were completely destroyed.
Affected drivers stated that their stoves have remained cold for the past four days, as they are facing severe financial hardship.
Victims claimed that they had repeatedly warned the building owner about the deteriorating condition of the structure, which they feared could lead to a major accident. However, their concerns were ignored.
The owners and drivers of the destroyed rickshaws have formally demanded compensation from the government to help cover their losses.
