ISLAMABAD: Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), has urged the Kashmiri diaspora to make every possible effort to highlight the Kashmir cause at international forums.

The Kashmiri diaspora plays a vital role in exposing the Indian government’s nefarious designs in the region, particularly in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Sultan Mehmood stated during a meeting with International Kashmir Peace Forum (IKPF) Europe President Zahid Iqbal Hashmi, who called on him at Kashmir House, Islamabad.

He further emphasized that the Kashmiri community abroad should unite and raise their voices to bring attention to the Kashmir issue on a global level.

Chaudhry noted that the sham elections in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) cannot substitute the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

He maintained that the people of Kashmir, who have made unparalleled sacrifices for the noble cause of freedom, would never compromise on their rights.

“Nothing short of the right to self-determination can satisfy their political aspirations,” the president said, adding that India should understand it cannot suppress the Kashmiris’ spirit and their passion for freedom.

Chaudhry also remarked that the Modi government had unleashed a reign of terror in IIOJK. “The Indian government is determined to install a Hindu chief minister in occupied Kashmir to push forward its Hindutva agenda in the region.”

President IKPF Hashmi inquired about President Chaudhry’s health and praised his service in promoting the Kashmir cause.

Hashmi noted that Pakistanis and AJK residents living in Europe hold the president’s contributions to the Kashmir cause in high regard, adding that his role in advancing Kashmiris’ right to self-determination would be remembered for generations.

He emphasized that there is no division among the Pakistani community in Europe, and they are eager to invest in Pakistan to contribute to the country’s economic stability.

People living in Europe, including France, hold great respect for the Pakistan Army, which, in addition to safeguarding international borders and working boundaries, is making unmatched sacrifices along the 740km Line of Control (LoC), Hashmi added.
