BRUSSELS: Kashmir Council Europe Union (KC-EU) has announced that it will organize a protest camp on the advent of August 5 when Modi-led Indian Government abrogated the Article 370 and 35A of Indian Constitution, in Brussels on August 4.
The event will be held at 1:00 PM at the Europe Square in front of the Central Train Station at the European Headquarters in Brussels.
The Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU), Ali Raza Syed, stated on Monday that, in addition to the protest camp, he will address gatherings at Pakistan’s embassies in Brussels and The Hague, as well as participate in a webinar on August 4, 2024.
These events are being organized to protest against the Indian government’s action on August 5, 2019, which revoked the special status of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
He stated that Kashmiris, who have been oppressed since large parts of their land were occupied by Indian forces on October 27, 1947, are facing increased hardships and miseries following the actions taken by India on August 5, 2019.
Ali Raza Syed expressed that many political figures, human rights activists, socially active individuals, and journalists are imprisoned, and the Indian government has even removed necessary facilities from pro-Indian political leaders, including Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti.
Ali Raza Syed stated that brutalities, particularly extra-judicial killings by Indian forces, are continually occurring in the occupied territory, with Indian forces using black laws to commit such atrocities.
In the last five years, he said, the Indian government, led by Narendra Modi, has altered the IIOJK domicile rules, granting residence status in IIOJK to hundreds of thousands of non-Kashmiris. Additionally, thousands of kanals of land have been indefinitely earmarked in different districts of occupied Jammu and Kashmir to be allotted to non-state subjects in the name of ‘investment and industry.’
Ali Raza Syed called on the international community, including human rights organizations, to take serious notice of the situation in occupied Kashmir and to stop human rights violations in the state.
