ISLAMABAD: A lady Assistant Commissioner (AC) Jannat Hussain Nekokara from district Attock, the bordering locality between Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) landed into trouble when teenage students misinterpreted her remarks on interfaith harmony and termed them blasphemous.
To mark International Human Rights Day, like in other parts of the country, a series of seminars were also organised under supervision of local government in district Attock.
Lady officer Jannat was also invited to address the events one at Jinnah Hall of district council while her second appearance was fixed at local government boys school under administration of municipal corporation (MC) to mark the day.
The International Human Rights Day commemorates the day on which, in 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).
While addressing at govt. MC Boy’s high school, lady assistant commissioner stated on interfaith harmony, “we have to ensure the rights of Non-Muslims in Pakistan, we have to give them due regard. we have unfortunately got involved in sectarianism.. like he is Shia, Sunni, Ahmadi and Wahabi etc. We need make our identity as a Muslim and Pakistani and get rid of this classification in the name of religion”, were her remarks.
The peaceful event turned into remonstration, when tens of teenage students of school wrongly valued the statement and started to chant slogans against lady officer and Ahmadia outfit which was declared as non-Muslim in Constitution of Pakistan 1973.
The teenagers were of the view that lady officer in her statement while addressing the audience put the Non-Muslim religious group (Ahmadi) in the bucket of Muslim’s sects which comes under blasphemy. The angered mob moved towards the office of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Attock and demanded high-ups to record her version immediately in the light of statement made by her.
Deputy Commissioner immediately summoned lady officer Jannat Hussain into his office and teenage students and some of local school staffers started questioning with lady on her statement about interfaith harmony.
The video recordings of all proceedings went viral on social media. In these videos threatening and derogatory behavior of mob faced by lady officer before her bosses and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) officials can seen clearly.
After recording the version of lady officer on controversial statement and justifying her position, the mob of student went out from the office while chanting the religious slogans showing victory.

TNT made several attempts to approach the victim officer to get side of the story, but she was not available, most likely because of intimidation and trauma she went through.
